The Confraria del Cava celebrates the investiture of the new cavallers confrares (Knights brotherhoods) and the recognition of the distinctions as a Cavallers Confrares d'Honor and Cavaller Confrare de Merit in a solemn ceremony of investiture with all the members. This celebration is based on the solemn and ancestral mediaeval tradition of Bacus Brotherhoods.

New association memberships are distinguished as cavallers confrares. Personalities which along the year have made an outstanding work into his own activity in the Cava defence and promotion, are distinguished as Confrares de Merit. The Confrare d'Honor distinction is reserved for a special guest whom is dedicated the investiture.

There are some distinctions: the oath of loyalty to the cava; the noble imposition of the sword by the President of the Cofraria; the medal and the diplome of the association.

Since 30th October 1981, when it took place the first official event of investiture, the association has more than one thousand memberships who are compromise their work, love and loyalty at this magi sparkle wine of bubbles. There are 47 HONOUR Confreres, 1058 MERIT Confrares and 482 members of member between all the Knights brotherhoods.


Every year there are a set of activities surround the Week of cava that take place during the month of October. After the vintage is proclaimed the Queen of Cava. At the same time is chosen an official announcer who opens the week.
Thanks all these people it has been possible go on in order to divulge and promote cava with splendour, solemnity and prestige deserved.
