This series of events has, over the last 20 years, since the 1st Consell Capitular (Chapter Council) came up with this innovative idea, two years after the Guild was founded, despite the lack of funds and in great part thanks to the council's unrelenting enthusiasm this great Cava festival has become one of the most eagerly awaited events on the calendar. It has become by far Sant Sadurní residents' favourite festival, indeed it ranks the most fun event in the whole of Penedès region, where everyone - grape growers, Cava-makers and Cava-lovers alike - revel in the happiness of a job well done. The golden grape harvest is already in the cellars, the must is foaming, turning into the new wine and the men and women dependent on Cava can once again breathe a sigh of relief amongst the cava's aroma as they look forward to another spectacular Christmas campaign in which Cava will once again carry the message of peace and happiness around the world. During this important Week, we must bow our heads in honour of all the Guild members who, with their loyalty, effort and renewed initiatives and their enthusiastic and exciting exhortation to everyone to spread the word about the excellence and virtues of our magic star wine, have ensured that our Guild will occupy a place of honour in the mythical history of Cava. To celebrate this event, the Consell Capitular, along with the Young Guild members, have made every effort to prepare something very special, something in which everyone can take part and enjoy. On the magic night of Saturday 6 October, we shall solemnly crown as Queen of Cava the beautiful Miss Mar Saura, television presenter, journalist and actor, accompanied by her Maids of Honour. To make the traditional procession around the town especially luminous, original and relevant, the theatre group Comediants will be in charge of events, from the time we leave the Castellblanch cava cellars until we arrive in the town square, where, with their unique brand of showmanship for which they are world-famous, they will offer us an astonishing speech and show, especially created for this anniversary. The well-renowned singer and songwriter, Joan Manuel Serrat, whose songs have been taken to heart by many and throughout his long career, and who has inspired so many deep feelings and words of love in the years which have passed since we were all twenty will be invested as an Honourable Guild Member. Other events on the schedule include the Investiture of the Honourable Young Member of the Guild, the 21st Cava Train and the Youth Night, mean that you won't have a moment to spare. These events, together with the Gastronomic Dinner, the 19th International Cava Congress, the 20th Cava Country Painting Competition and the 1st Congress on New Technologies, will be the true standard-bearers of the gastronomic and cultural quality of Cava Week. We hope you will all come to our huge party again this year, our 20th anniversary. With your presence and enthusiasm, the media are sure to spread the joyous word far and wide, inviting everyone to make a special toast to peace and prosperity around the world, with our magic star wine: CAVA Joan Juvé i Santacana |
